FRSC, paramilitary in Bauchi embark on road traffic enlightenment to ensure safer roads at Christmas, new year

The Zone RS. 12 of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi in conjunction with other paramilitary agencies in the state on Tuesday embarked on enlightenment rally round Bauchi metropolis to sensitize road users on the need to abide by all traffic regulations in order to minimize accidents on the roads.
The rally was led by the Zonal Commanding Officer of the FRSC, ACM Rotimi Adeleye with his team of the Zonal Command alongside the Bauchi Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi while the other para-military organizations that were part of it are:Nigeria Police Force; DSS; NDLEA; Fire Service and the NSCDC.
The rally was targeted at enlightening the motoring public on the danger of:
Overloading; Over speeding; Dangerous overtaking;Total obedience to road traffic regulation and adherence and respect to road signs.
The rally became necessary because of the volume of people on transit for the Christmas and new year festivities considering the massive movement being experienced during the period which increases chances of accidents.
The rally set out from the FRSC Base to:Miri village on Jos Road to Sabon – Kaura; Yelwa Market; Government House; Yakubun Bauchi Road; Wunti Market; Muda Lawal Market; Ran Road up to Ajiya House; Awalah Round About; Maiduguri Road stopping at the Gombe Road Interchange where dummy rescue operation was carried out.
Addressing Journalists at the end of the rally in the company of other heads of the paramilitary agencies, the FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer, ACM Rotimi Adeleye stressed the importance of obeying traffic rules and regulations all the time particularly during festive periods like this when traffic volume increases from the beginning of December to the end of January in the new year.
Rotimi Adeleye appealed to all road users to pay attention to the road signs, reduce overspeeding, avoid dangerous driving and overtaking as well as ensure that they have new tyres stressing most importantly avoidance of night travels advising that anywhere they get to by 6pm,they should stop there and continue the next day.
The ZCO further stressed that they should ensure that the particulars of their vehicles are up to date in order to avoid arrest by officers on patrol.
He also said that officers and men of the FRSC will be on patrol throughout the period stressing that all the identified Flashpoints across the 3 states in the Zone will be effectively monitored while rescue operation will be given priority.
Rotimi Adeleye then commended the sister paramilitary agencies for coming out to join hands with the FRSC saying that it has gone to demonstrate that collectively Nigerians can work together to salvage any situation.
