MoU Special Day: Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, University of Abuja to improve on relationship

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the University of Abuja have agreed to further boost their mutual relationship reached through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in various sectors.
The President ACCI, Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’allah spoke to better the provisions of the MoU reached in August, 2021 at the ACCI and University of Abuja Special Day in Abuja on Monday.
The event was to evaluate the efforts made so far from the MoU and finetune areas for improvement.
Dr. Abubakar who was represented by the Director-General of ACCI, Victoria Akai, called for the upgrade of provisions of the MoU by both parties.
The President said the MoU, among others, was in the areas of development of skilled workforce to include research, training, capacity-building, skill development, trade fairs and expos.
In his remarks, Professor Na’allah pointed out that the relationship should be an example for other universities to emulate.

According to him, universities should not only teach theories but also partner with industries for the benefit of the nation.
He said both parties can forge ahead in so many ways without even looking for support from the government.
Professor Na’allah advised the academia not to always wait but to engage the larger industry for collaboration and sought for endowments.
In his goodwill message, the Statistician-General of Nigeria, Dr. Harry Simon lauded the relationship between the ACCI and the University of Abuja and challenged other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to toe their path.
He explained that many researches have piled up in the universities but should be developed to impact on national development.
There was presentation of sectoral reports on the progress made through the MoU by both parties and a networking session.
