Malam Kawu youth, orphanage centre organises stakeholders, public sensitization, awareness campaign on drug abuse

A non government Organisation known as  Malam Kawu Youth Rehabilitation and Orphanage Centre, Bauchi has organised a sensitization program for stakeholders and the general public on the effects and danger of drugs menace among  youth in our society.
The one day sensitization and awareness program was held at the MKYROC centre at Unguwar Yakubu Wanka Street recently  in Bauchi.
The chairman of the  centre  Mallam Abdullahi Tahir, disclosed that the program was aimed at showcasing the various forms, types and ways in which  the youth used grugs and other criminal activities to make themselves so high and behave madly or very abnormal  in the society.
Tahir unfolded that through collective efforts MKYROC with some international donors was able to rehabilitated 788 persons including aged people
since from its inception in 2017 to date.
The cartigory number of youths been rehabilitated according to each year indicated that; 165 in 2017, 170 in 2018, 137 in 2019, 98 in 2020 and 218 in 2021 respectively.
Mallam Abdullahi Tahir , explained that the number has been reduced to 98 in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that the figure may probably increase as we’re approaching the 2023 campaign activities.
He expressed concerned on how the politicians are using the teaming youths by adultrating their lives with different types of drugs substances during their campaigns.
Tahir appealed to  government to include the centre on its federal government intervention program and well to do individuals to support and assist towards reducing the rate of drugs abuses in the state.
“Our doors are open to everyone who is willing to collaborate with us, either in kind or in cash so that we would eradicate the rate of the menace in our dear state, and beyond “, the proprietor appealed.
Highlights of the event include paper presentations by some guests as well as visiting the rooms of the rehabilitation youths at the centre.
