Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has again warned traditional rulers and community leaders to steer clear of indiscriminate land allocation that fuels herders/farmers clashes that have claimed innocent lives in the past.
The Governor gave the warning while granting audience to ward heads, community and religious leaders in Alkaleri LGA in continuation of his meeting with stakeholders in the area.
Bala Mohammed appreciated their contributions in the sustenance of peace through proper guidance of their subjects advising them not engage in any act that will disrupt the peace in the area especially issues of land allocation.
The Governor therefore warned them against using their positions to cause farmers/ herders conflict through sale or illegal allocation of land in their respective areas.
Bala Mohammed then donated ten operational motorcycles to volunteer security operatives in Duguri District of Alkaleri Local Government Area and pledged to be personally assisting them with monthly stipends to enhance their operations.
While presenting the vehicles at the palace of the District Head of Duguri, Bala Mohammed said that the move was to encourage them on their sacrifices towards securing lives and properties of the local communities.
According to him, Duguri shares borders with three states of Plateau, Gombe and Taraba hence the need to intensify patrol along the borderline to address potential security threats.
He charged them to always work in synergy with Divisional Police Office (DPO) and other conventional security personnel in the area to avoid breach of law and other.
The Governor further assured that his administration will continue to give priority attention to security issues stressing that it is the first primary responsibility of any government as enshrined in the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.
While responding, the District Head of Duguri thanked the Governor for the kind gesture saying that it will go a long in assisting the volunteers to be more effective in the performance of their duties.
