Gombe State Police Command has arrested, Halliru Umar Aliyu, 32 years of Tudun Wada quarters Gombe and Ahmed Ladan alias “Sarkin Baka aged 42 years of London mai Dorowa quarters Gombe for criminal conspiracy, intimidation, kidnapping and extortion.
According to Police bulletin signed by the PPRO, SP Obed Mary Malum, based on complaint received, Police Operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau, arrested the above mentioned suspects in connection to a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Intimidation, kidnapping and Extortion.
According to the PPRO, the fact of the case is that, sometime in the year 2021, the first suspect, Haliru Umar Aliyu of Tudun Wada quarters, Gombe was given a tricycle to ride after his business has collapsed by his sister in-law.
However, the said suspect, Haliru Umar Aliyu later sold the tricycle for the sum of N250,000 without the knowledge of the owner and upon request of the tricycle or her money, the suspect failed to bring any.
The PPRO added that because of the shame according to him, on the 30th December, 2021, the suspect went to his friend’s house the second suspect, one Ahmed Ladan alias “Sarkin Baka” of London mai Dorowa Gombe , where they criminally conspired among themselves and faked a kidnap of the said Haliru Umar Aliyu with the intension to extort his elder sister one Zainab Umar Aliyu aged 42yrs of the same address.
The sum of N500,000 was demanded to enable him refund the money, the suspects called and threatened the victim using her brother’s phone that unless the said sum of money was paid into her brother’s Bank account number to secure his release, else her brother will be killed.
The suspects confessed to the crime, meanwhile, investigation is on going and the case will soon be charged to court while exhibit recovered included: Two small dish bowl; One mat and One plastic kettle.
Also arrested was Gambo Zakari Mohammed, aged 30 years of Kawo quarters Kaduna North LGA, Kaduna State; Idris Barau aged 17 years of new mile three Gombe; Abdulrahaman Shehu Usman aged 20 years of Herwa Gana quarters Gombe; Danladi Baka Baba aged 30 years of new mile three Gombe; Adamu Suleiman aged 20 years of new mile three Gombe and Abubakar Abdullahi aged 21 years of Tumfure quarters, Gombe.
On the 31st December 2021 at about 1830hours, Police operatives from Billiri Division while on stop and search operations at Kalmai junction arrested the six suspects mentioned above in a case of Impersonation, three among them were wearing Nigerian Army camouflage uniform while three others were wearing hunter’s uniform, armed with dane guns.
Two dane guns and one single barrel gun were recovered as exhibits, in the course of the investigation, they confessed that the uniform was given to them by one Pte. Michael Jude serving at 151 Battalion, Bama Borno State a native of Billiri.
Investigation is going on and the suspects will subsequently be charged to court for prosecution.
The Command, while warning individuals or groups with such nefarious act to desist from such assured the good people of Gombe State of its readiness and commitment to fulfilling its constitutional mandate of protection of lives and properties, also, information given will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
