Beneficiaries of endowment fund must join tree planting club, volunteer services to communitiies

Cross River State students studying in University of Calabar (UNICAL) will necessarily return to their localities during holidays to conduct free lessons for those studying for their Senior School Certificates Examination, JAMB and WAEC, join environmental and literary clubs as a way of giving back to the society.
The students are beneficiaries of an Endowment Fund instituted by kind-hearted persons in the state.
Coordinator of the Fund, Agba Jalingo, a public activist and online newspaper publisher, said they have raised One Million Fifty Two Thousand Naira only presently.
Jalingo said all payments would be done directly into UNICAL bank account in he name of beneficiaries.
Jalingo said they have released the application form for the Endowment Fund, “But all intending applicants should note that, during their vacations, they must give back to their communities through volunteerism.
“They will volunteer to organize study classes for JAMB/SSCE. Join tree nursery development and tree planting club and organise youths social debate club”.
He also said in a statement that the beneficiaries shall also join community water sustainability, peace building and environmental management clubs.
The coordinator said that a technical team is being put together to set up tasks for these beneficiaries in areas of their interest that each club will organize themselves to achieve the task and qualify for support next semester.
According to him, various outputs will become working materials and templates for government and relevant agencies.
Jalingo said that the motive behind the fund is to ensure that it becomes one of the ways to give youths opportunity to participate and combat restiveness and create healthy aspirations.
He called on more kind-hearted Nigerians to support the fund to assist indigent students, assuring that every One Kobo would be publicly accounted for.
