The recent project re-tracking by Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Commission (ICPC), in Adamawa central senatorial zone, facilitated by national assembly members serving and non serving needs revisiting.
These exercise were in phases following the agency has written off the performances of the facilitators or sponsors who have mainly politicises Federal Government projects to the teaming Nigerians with millions of naira sank into projects but for political reasons personalised the efforts of the government.
This, the spokeperson of ICPC, Mrs Oguguwa Azuka made this known when the team were re-drafted to Adamawa state as a result projects not properly and adequately done, frowned on how the projects were been undertaken as personal projects by misleding the public with so many gimmicks that are worthy for explanations.
Azuka reiterated during one of the phase tracking where some projects were discovered and claimed 100% completed while are not, some abandoned half way, some not commissioned, diversion of projects, none supervised and some personalised and host of others.
She said, ICPC took a visit to Federal Government Girls Collage (FGGC) Yola project for fencing and bib wiring to reduce the influx of headers awarded by Federal Ministry of Education, an Executive project was 98% completed though, the school authority a made a plea for the completion of their abandoned ‘coma students hostel’ to be completed to ease accommodation problems and also watch tower at four corners of the school.
The most concerned and worrisome was the instructional materials supplied to Air Force Nursery and primary facilitated by senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani was politicised and personalised as all the materials supplied as constituency projects like, chairs, tables, text/exercise books, computers/printers are labelled as supplied by the senator.
A source very closed to the management told our reporter that, “ these materials they don’t need them because the Nigeria Air force had earlier made provision of all these, the head teacher may only give them out to schools in need, they should stop politicising the military school as they have their budget for this by federal government.
Another source close to the head teacher said, the materials are duplications as NAF has supplied that they can be give out to other schools who need them, as this are misplacement of priorities.
ICPC however warned communities that constituency project are not personal or individual anywhere such practice is noticed they have the is federal government (constituency projects) or report to where possible for necessary action they should not keep quiet,
Another project visited was Jili village, Yola South local government area where a primary health care and dispensary as at the time of the report, Jingi Buba said the structure is completed without drugs and not commissioned for over a year, no staff except the few that are still operating under the almost abandoned old (clinic) the community even called for the assistance of teachers in the school built and the commission to avoid being destroy wind and rainstorm, he added.
Azuka however faulted the supply of instructional materials to Daulabi Primary school in Yola South labelled with a politician pictures quarried that they should stop misleading the public as they are government projects, the Head teacher Tarphinus Agabus said they received text and exercise books, chairs, tables, computers and generators but are safely kept for safe keeping pending the resumption of school but confirmed that they are labelled with Binani’s picture and name except few.
