A typical chaotic situation at a fuel filling station in Abuja
By Francis Nansak
Against rumour of supplies of about four hundred trucks of PMS in Abuja and environs, most filling stations have remained empty.
The result, it has culminated to low vehicular movement on Abuja-Keffi express road, forcing some commuters to walk long distances and paying double. A trip before now that goes for N100, goes for as much as between N200 to N300.
It would be recalled that scarcity of PMS hit the nation’s capital two weeks ago, leading a rise in prices of commodities in the market due to increase transport fare. Apex News Exclusive observed that despite the supplies of about 400 trucks last week most filling stations remained empty.
A vehicle owner who refuse his name on print told our correspondent that he drove all the way from Abuja to Akwanga in search of fuel which he finally got at the price of N300 per liter, against N165.
“What on earth has Nigeria done that we can not for once have a leader that will ever lead this country without subjecting people to one form of suffering ,pains and hardship.
“It is unimaginable that we claim to be Africa best, but lacking in even what as a nation we are endowed with”, he lamented.
At Tammah, a students settlement in Nasarawa local government area of the state, students decried the cost of living occasion by the hike in prices of goods, which, according to them the scarcity of fuel has added more hardship on them.
Desmond Okeke, said “I use generator to power my electronics and to study, which is another challenge the people in Tammah go through due to the epileptic power supply from EADC. And with the scarcity of petrol, it has forced us to purchasing the product at very exuberant cost just to power the generator for 3 hours. I am pleading with those behind supply of petrol to consider that while they are living in comfort others and especially the voting strength are the worst heat, therefore they should be God fearing and ensure that the country live by it resources which is our natural inheritance.”
