Bauchi Assembly refers bills for administration of criminal justice, penal code law to committee, to submit report in 4 weeks

In its determined resolve to ensure the full implementation of administration of Criminal justice in all Courts in the state, as well as provide for a Penal Code law, Bauchi State House of Assembly has referred the Bills to that effect to the House Committee on Justice and Judiciary giving it four weeks to submit its report to plenary.
The Chairman House Committee on Justice and Judiciary, Bello Muazu Shira representing Shira Constituency had during plenary on Tuesday, requested that the House to allow a Bill for a Law to provide for the administration of criminal justice in the courts of Bauchi State and for related matters 2022 undergo first reading and was seconded by Jamilu Umaru Dahiru representing Bauchi Central Constituency.
Upon approval by the House, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Umar Yusuf Gital Esq. to carryout the first reading just as the Committee Chairman also requested for the bill to be read for a second time and was seconded by Sabo Bako Sade representing Sade Constituency.
After the approval by the House, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House Umar Yusuf Gital Esq. to carryout the second reading.
Also, Chairman House Committee on Justice and Judiciary, Bello Muazu Shira representing Shira Constituency requested that the House should allow a Bill for a Law to provide for the Penal Code Law Bauchi State 2022 undergo first reading and was seconded by Hon. Saleh Muhammad representing Jama’are Constituency.
Upon approval by the House, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House Umar Yusuf Gital Esq. to carryout the first reading.
On the same vein, the Chairman House Committee on Justice and Judiciary, Hon. Bello Muazu Shira representing Shira Constituency requested that the House should allow a Bill for a Law to provide for the penal code law Bauchi State 2022 undergo second reading and was seconded by Jamilu Umaru Dahiru representing Bauchi Central Constituency.
After the Members approved the motion, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House Umar Yusuf Gital Esq. to carryout the second reading.
Under matters of urgent public importance, Deputy Speaker, Danlami Ahmed Kawule representing Zungur/Galambi Constituency drew the attention of the House to how Government Secondary School, Baban Takko in Yelwa Kagadama area of Bauchi Local Government was turned into a hideout for criminals and centre for consumption of illicit drugs.
He explained that the situation is creating a lot of disturbances to the people of the area.
The Deputy Speaker appealed to the House to communicate with relevant agencies, to convert the school into maternity or any government facility that will be of help to the community, instead of leaving the school shut permanently.
In his contribution, Majority Leader, Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu said that issue of security needs to be given all the necessary attention that it requires.
He suggested that the House Committee on security should liaise with relevant security or government organs so that the true picture of the situation will be ascertained and come up with solution thereafter the House can take appropriate decision.
The Speaker mandated the House Committee on Security to liaise with office of the Secretary to the State Government to find out about the situation, which he said is very serious and worrisome.
