Is no longer joke as the joker takes the jokes to far. And giving consideration to a saying “There is no smoke without fire” one may be tempted to ask who is tearing the APC apart?

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) without pretense is no longer having it smooth towards a free, fair and acceptable national convention to elect her national officers.

However, with all that is going on, there seems to be someone within the ruling party whose interest is to tear the party apart. There is a likely “Judas Iscariot” and he remains unknown, but certainly, there is a mastermind, who is interesting to seeing that the APC no longer remain at the centre.

This is because from the existing frictions among those seeking to be elected, appointed or consensusly favoured.

There had been media reports and counter reports over an alleged endorsement by President Muhammadu Buhari in favour either of the two contenders from Nasarawa State for the national championship position since it was zone to the north central states.

This acclaimed endorsement have remained uncertain that the President already had his preferred choice for the position.

It has became a national discourse as most prominently the existing interest on the position from Nasarawa State, where two former governors and serving senators are interested to lead the party. They are Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Tanko Almakura.

Their individual interest have instead of being an added advantage has threatened the unity of the party.

There are reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown his support for Senator Adamu. On his part, Senator Almakura had earlier secured an endorsement from his successor, Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The endorsement of Senator Almakura by Nasarawa State Governor and the media reports allegedly that the President had endorsed Senator Adamu are two contradictions that the APC at the national and state levels most address.

But the President’s media aide, Mr Femi Adesina said the President is yet to endorse anyone as his preferred choice for the position of national chairman.

Nevertheless, Adamu’s camp have continue to hail reports with the notion that the President had actually endorsed Senator Adamu.

On their part, the Senator Almakura’s supporters are beating their chests saying the democrat that Buhari is, he would not delved into settings the party apart by preferring a particular aspirant.

Be that as it may, the camp of Senator Almakura believed that President Buhari can not be carjorled into taking sides knowing the unity of the party is topmost in his mind.

The intrigued here is, both Senator Adamu and Senator Almakura are having a season relationship with their state governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, inspite of the governor’s support for Almakura.

Nevertheless, what is uncleared was did the governor attend the recent APC governor’s meeting at the instance of the President and had endorsed Senator Adamu or is more comfortable with Senator Almakura’s aspiration having come from the Congress for Progressive Change bloc?

But the unanswered is question from within and outside, who is interested in tearing the party apart?

While all this lasted, the opposition PDP may be happy that the APC is in disarray so that the majority of its members who had earlier defected will be left with no option but rejoined the PDP in order to push APC out of power in 2023.

The earlier the better for the APC to identify who is interested in tearing them apart if at all retaining power beyond Buhari matters that much.
