Church donates wheelchairs to Muslims, others

Eight physically challenged, including Muslim faithful have received brand new wheel chairs.

The donation was done by the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saint, Calabar Nigeria Stake.

It was part of their regular welfare supports to less privileged members of the society, not necessarily members of the church.

Stake President of Calabar Nigeria of the Church, Alex Nkoro explained that they initiated the welfare programme over ten years ago, adding that the gesture is a demonstration of love as taught by Jesus Christ.

Secretary of the Muslim Community in the state, Alhaji Shaaban Abdullahi commended the gesture.

“This singular action of your church shows you tolerate other peoples religion”, he said .

The urged the beneficiaries to make use of the donations judiciously to encourage the donors.

Also in her remarks, representative of Akamkpa General hospital, Mrs Angela Akong said they did not have any wheel chairs so that they literally had to be carrying patients with theiir hands.

She lauded the church for exhibiting a humanitarian guesture towards them.

Also speaking, Regional Manager Nigeria in charge of welfare, Mr. Charles Adebayo urged Nigerians to build up the spirit of caring for one another irrespective of class and religion.
