Gombe civil defence threatens to sue Independent Petroleum Marketers over misinformation

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Gombe state command has taken a stand to sue Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (lPMAN) for tarnishing the image of the command that said have been harassing and collecting money from filling stations owners.
The commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Gombe state command Mr. Waziri Baba Goni made this known at the command headquarters while briefing journalists on Friday.
He said that a Press conference was organized by the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria on Thursday which they briefed the media accusing Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps alleging that they collected money and harassed filling stations owners when they went out for operation.
The commandant however debunked the allegations meted on them by IPMAN saying that they did that just to den the image of the command.
He called on the public and concern authorities to kindly disregard such information as it is baseless.
The commandant also called on IPMAN chairman to produce Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officers who have been harassing and collecting money from filling stations owners adding that failure to do so they will head to court for further action.
According to him, the allegations made on them was not true they are law abiding citizens and will always remain committed in the discharge of their duty.
Our job is to ensure that petroleum products are sold at government price than increasing high price for the public he said.
When contacted the chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria in Gombe state Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi Ibrahim on phone concerning the matter he said due to some complaints made from its members triggered him to briefed the press.
While reacting to some questions the chairman said it is impossible for someone to buy a product at the rate of N180 per litre and sold it to N165 per litre they are not fare to us he added.
