Nigerians tasked on patriotism to overcome security, economic challenges

It has been opined that the myriad of problems particularly the worsening insecurity and economic challenges bedevilling the nation can be surmounted when all compatriots play their roles patriotically.
The opinion was expressed by a former Minister of Education and an Elder statesman in Gombe state, Ambassador Ibrahim Yerima Abdullahi who also charged Nigerians on the need for the exhibition of national patriotism.
Ambassador Yerima Ibrahim Abdullahi who also holds the traditional title of ‘Sarkin Bai’ of Gombe gave the charge while addressing journalists in his residence on the ‘State of the Nation’ in Gombe.
He further opined that the country cannot overcome the present challenges if the leaders do not act decisively adding that the common citizens should also be patriotic by praying for the nation and abiding by the laws of the land.
He said that he was at the moment disturbed by the insecurity and economic hardship in the land and tasked present leaders on justice and fairness to all and sundry without any sentiment.
According to him, “We have to draw the attention of the government on the inequities and lack of justice that is being practised in the society”.
He added that, “If the legal system cannot give citizens rest of mind, then we have problem. We should pray God to restore peace and tranquility in our country, to improve our economic progress”.
The elder statesman also admonished the youth to avoid being used to destroy the country pointing out that the future of the nation is in their hands.
