NDE disburses N4.5m soft loans to 228 small business owners in Bauchi

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Tuesday disbursed the sum of N4.5 million loans to 
Operators of micro business in Bauchi State have received the sum of N4.5m as soft loans the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). 
 State Co-ordinator of NDE, Lawan Yaya, made the disclosure on Tuesday during the disbursement of the loans to a total of 228 beneficiaries in the state.
 He said that the programme was implemented under the Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme (MEES) of the directorate.
He added that the programme which was an initiative of the Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Fikpo, was aimed at boosting micro businesses with more emphasis on women.
He also said that each of the beneficiaries would be given the sum of N20, 000 adding that payment would be done directly to their bank accounts.
 The coordinator further said that some of the beneficiaries will include sellers of the popular thriving masa, zobo drinks, fruits, beans cake (Akara), cap washers, among others.
He said that the beneficiaries were selected across the 20 local government areas of the state saying that, “The loan has a moratorium period of three months in which thereafter, they would start repayment for the period of three years,”.
 Lawan Yaya then urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the loan to achieve its aim of enhancing their businesses.
One of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others, promised to channel the loan towards the purpose it was meant for thanking the NDE for coming up with such a wonderful program. 
She expressed hope that many other women who need such a support will be found and supported in order to boost their sources of income.
