Christian mothers have been reminded of their God given roles of models to their children in order to have a better society where vices will be reduced to the barest minimum.
The mothers are therefore urged to stand-up to the roles of bringing up their children in the ways of God to make them better citizens who can be relied on for development and progress of the country.
The admonition was given by the resident Pastor of GoodNews Baptist Church, Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, Rev Ezekiel Oyebode during the celebration of the 2022 Baptist Women Missionary Union (BWMU) Mother’s Day stressing the role of a virtuous mother in the good upbringing of the children cannot be overemphasized.
According to him, “A Christian woman who is a mother must be able to train up her children in the ways of God because that is the sole responsibility God has given to her. She must therefore not fail in that responsibility”.
Elaborating the theme of the 2022 celebration, ‘Mother as Backbone of the family’, the Clergyman said that the theme is very apt particularly at this period when the country is looking for positive turnaround in the lifestyle of youths who have become engrossed in one form of vice or the other.
He lamented that the increase of cultism activities by the youths across the country has become a thing of worry stressing that Christian mothers have a great task ahead of them in order return the youths to the paths of God.
Ezekiel Oyebode further charged members of the Baptist Women Missionary Union to engage in ventures that will promote positive impact in their families, communities and church as well as the larger society.
Earlier, the Chairperson of BWMU of the Church, Mrs Oyewole commended the women for living exemplary lives as role models to their children saying that it can be noticed in the behavior of their children.
Mrs Oyewole stressed that the mother as backbone of the family must strive to remain supportive of the family in order to have a better community and Church.
The women sang songs of praises to God for another year praying for peaceful conduct of electioneering activities preparatory to the 2023 General elections.
