Christian faith-based organization condemns Bauchi violence, calls for peaceful coexistence

The recent clash clash between two rival youth groups which has led to loss of three lives and destruction of properties in Yelwa Tsakani and Lushi communities of Bauchi local government area has been condemned and described as most unfortunate.
The condemnation was made by a faith-based organization, Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC) Bauchi state chapter through a press release by the Chairman of the organization, Dr. Timothy Ishaya Gwami, copies of which were made available to Journalists in Bauchi.
The organization called on the community leaders in the affected areas to take necessary measures in ensuring that the ugly trend is addressed to avoid escalation.
Timothy Gwami stated that all efforts need to be put in place to ensure that the Communities remained at peace with one another regardless of their ethnic or religious differences.
The organization which observed that the area affected is predominantly occupied by the two most prominent faiths, lamented the recent clash that claimed three lives and properties worth millions of naira.
The state chairman who condemned the menace, urged the State Assembly, security agencies and other stakeholders to work out modalities to restore peace and stability to the affected communities and prevent recurrence.
He urged the people of the communities to sheathe their swords for the sake of peace and unity describing the skirmishes in the communities of Yelwan Tsakani, Lushi and others as painful, wicked, disheartening and barbaric.
He pointed out that for any development to take place in any community, residents must live in peace and harmony regardless of ethnic, religious and political differences.
According to him, “We must bury our differences and embrace love, togetherness and brotherhood in our daily activities for the sake of peace and tranquility”.
While commiserating with government and the people of Bauchi state, especially the affected families, Dr. Gwami prayed for the quick recuperation of the victims.
He called on the citizens to support the state government led by Governor Bala Mohammed towards restoring peace in the area because according to him, the future of Bauchi state remains bright under Bala Mohammed led administration.
