You would recalled that penultimate weeks ago,and precisely on the 21/5/2022,the executive chairman , Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State, Honourable Mohammed Baba shehu,was kidnapped alongside his Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties,Dr Tanimu Mohammed,where also the orderly ,a police sergeant,Alhassan,was shot death on the spot,along Akwanga -Gudi express road,on their way from Lafia heading to Keffi.
Although the doos had been released two days after their kidnapped and the slain police sergeant buried,their experience while in captivity as narrated by Dr Tanimu Mohammed was a scary story that he said” Even it is your worst enemy,never wished him that he encounter kidnappers”
Speaking on their ordeals WHile in the caged of the kidnappers,Dr Tanimu Mohammed told Apex News Exclusive all that they went through,He said ” on that faithful Friday,we were at Lafia to host one of the presidential aspirant of our party the APC,His Excellency,senator Bola Tinibu,who was on the usual state wide visit to solicit for support from Nasarawa State delegates,it was all a fruitful sitting session,while the visit lasted and we left for keffi enroute Akwanga at about few minutes after 5 o clock.
” We drove all along to Akwanga and from Akwanga, towards Keffi,on reaching Akwanga water board,which is a few minutes to 7 pm ,we then discovered that the road was silent,then we reduced the speed of our vehicle and from no where we started hearing sporadic gun shots .I was the one driving the car,so immediately I noticed that,looking at the nature of how the shooting was coming towards us,the best thing to do was to to park the car.
” And dashed down , because most of the bullets are stray bullets ,they could hit at anybody,so I immediately told the chairman to come out and go down flat .We all came out of the car,even when we were trying to drop from the car,they were still shooting directly at the car.on going down,one of the kidnappers quickly rushed to us with a stick and gun in his hands and asked us to stand up,so we stood up and about about following them ,I heard the second person in front of the car telling his colleague that there is a police in the car.Fire the police! Fire the police!! That I heard him said twice.
Dr Tanimu further narrated that as they were moving down the road ,heard two gun shots ” kpa! Kpa!!” And I believed that the guy(kidnapper) had shot the police, acvording to him,he attempted to turned and see whether it was the police that was shot,before he could know it he was hit with a heavy stick on the head and fell down in the gutter.
” Not minding my condition, on the ground ,he held me around my waist ,pulled me up and said we should start going.That was the beginning of our trouble ,we went through the bushes ,not knowing which direction we were heading to,no light to see anything,we went through rice farms,through the bush and some gullies.
” We left where they attacked and abduct us killing the police orderly at about few minutes after 7 pm and got to the place they finally took us to some few minutes to 4 am ,in the morning.They stopped us and asked us to to sit down,we sat down ,yet they were not comfortable and later said we should sleep, myself,the chairman and one police ASP,who was on mufti,called Luka.they lay us down and another set of 3 persons who are their members with sophisticated guns I have never seen in my life ,but they were mentioning the names of the guns as Ak 47 and AK 49.Two people were guiding us ,so we sat down there for about an hour .
“They had the time and we don’t so I asked them what was the time and even said I wanted to pray ,but what was told us was that they don’t pray here.on noticing that it was day break,they redirected that we should go up the hills,into a hide out with lots of trees,that even if you used an Aeroplane ,you can not see anybody in that hill.Thstbis a place where you can not stand on your feet but can only kneel or sleep.
” We were there and all their communications are done closely to us ,that we could hear them and they were not on mask nighter did they blind fold us,their faces were opened and they were telling us that they had killed so many people ,saying shey we are hearing some kind of smells? They will soon take us there to see where they dropped dead bodies and we pleaded with them that we don’t want to see death bodies.
” And I had told them that the chairman was not too strong ,like wise myself , trying toused some diplomatic approach to calm them down,because they were all you g people .No one among them by my assessment is above 35 year.one of them later came and tied the police ASP that the police are bad to them,when ever they catches them ,as such they will kill him,because they don’t take it easy with police,then we were pleading with them that the ASP isan ordinary police teacher ,who teaches in police school and not a full time policeman. And they became calm asking us to give them money ,if the money doesn’t come,they will kill us or they will move us to Kaduna state and sale us.
Dr Tanimu further said that as at the time they were pleading with the kidnappers ,they also noticed that the securities in the town were tracking them and that they have some informat there too.
He added that apart from their infomat,the kidnappers have with them in that bush so many gadgets and are very effective ” it was then they begin to Operate those gadgets that they were mentioning the names and they told us that our people are tracking them ,but we have our own Anti Tracker here too,they were directing the tracking,yes! They were directing the tracker and saying don’t worry,they will go and look for us in Toto now or at Umasha,so they were directing the coordinates of the tracking,later they said they want to kill the police ASP.
” Because he had a tracker with him but the police said he is not with anything as such,but they went and brought his out his ID card from his bag.the I D card and a year gas and a lap top inside the bag.They broke the lap top ,dig a hole and buried it.later around 4 pm they were communicating a bike man to buy them coca cola and bread.But the bike man pulled out argument with them and I precieved he was telling them that he was not willing to collect the money they offer him and they replied the bike man that they will not add anything above the #150,000 they give him.
Dr Tanimu further added that” There is one of their superior,a Fulani man,who later at about 4 :30 pm came in and demanded that the police man should be brought to him and they took him to where he was and he carried a cutlass wanting to stab the police man as well as beating us and marching us,but the others spoke to him in Fulani language and he withdraw from beating us” That was what we went through and many others.
