National Drug Law Enforcement Agency confiscates 1,515 958kg of cannabis in Bauchi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it has seized 1,515. 958Kg of Cannabis Sativa in Bauchi state as at 31st May 2022.
Commander of the Agency in the state Saidu S. Mohammed made this known in an exclusive chat with Apex News Exclusive on the status of substance abuse in the state.
“Cannabis Sativa also known as ‘we we’ or marijuana and sychotropical substances are the commonly abused in Bauchi State and we currently have ten suspects in our rehabilitation unit undergoing counseling”, he said.
The NDLEA Boss in the state also said drug demand reduction and supply reduction are the major tstrategies the agency deploy to address the concern of substance abuse in Bauchi.
He explained that under drug demand reduction strategy, they employ prevention approaches by organising enlightement campaigns in schools and organisation to highlight the dangers of Substance Abuse and discourage the public from it.
Saidu Mohammed further said in supply reduction, “We carry out operations especially on flash points, Black spots within the state as well as patrol teams that do stop and search thereby blocking the chances of reaching its destination”, he added.
