The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has rejected the option of having Senate President as the consensus presidential candidate of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for 2023.

The choice for Senator Lawan as the consensus candidate was not that of the party but thought of national Chairman of the party, Senator Adamu Abdullahi.

The group further called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resist Adamu”s choice.

The apex social cultural group maintained that if that is allowed to happen, the zone would exit the party en mass and pitch tent with the third force which would have the west, south south and north central in alliance.

Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro made this known in a statement issued on Monday and was made available to journalists.

“If the stupid choice of APC national chairman is allow to fly it means that APC will lose and it will take them decades to resurface in the centre again”, he said.

Isiguzoro however noted that senate president lack the acceptance and integrity to defeat PDP. and unite Nigeria, secure the country.

“So the announcement of the APC National Chairman Senator Adamu that Senator Ahmad Lawan is the APC consensus candidate for 2023 depicts immaturity and a game over for the ruling party to retain power at the center.

“So this miscalculation will backfire on the ruling party’s chances to win 2023 election and would affect the party in the next decades.

“So we are calling on President Buhari to caution the party National Chairman Sen.Adamu, who appears to be biased and compromised by hawks in the party.

“We salute the courageous stance of APC Northern Governors to reject the APC National Chairman’s choice for consensus” those pushing for the choice Ahmad Lawan are oblivion to the fact that a political tsunami is sweeping across the country”, he explained.
