Residents Bogoro warned against indulging in gender based violence, urges to expose perpetrators

People of Bogoro, headquarters of Bogoro LGA of Bauchi State have been warned not condone perpetrators of gender based violence in the area but to rather expose such people for law to take its full course.
The warning was given by the Village Head of Bogoro, Mr Nuhu Tafida during a meeting with hamlets and community leaders in his palace on Thursday.
Mr. Nuhu Tafida stated that the Bauchi state government has passed into law a bill against gender based violence which if committed will attract punishment. He charged all the hamlet and community leaders to report and identify perpetrators of all forms of gender based violence like child abuse and violence against women for proper action. The traditional leader lamented the high rate of gender based violence in the area disclosing that he will set up a committee in partnership with the local government and a non governmental organizations to go round the three village areas to sensitize and create awareness on the matter.
Nuhu Tafida used the opportunity to inform the farmers and herders to live in peace with each other during this farming season. "I want to inform you that I will not tolerate those who takes the law into their hands. Anybody who cause any security problems will be punished accordingly. Make sure there is peace and security in your area" the village head added.
Speaking on the issue of COVID 19 vaccination, Mr Nuhu Tafida lamented that since the beginning of the federal government COVID 19 assistance no single person have benefited from the scheme.
According to him, "I have been complaining bitterly, I have heard people from other states or local government saying they have received so so amount from the government as COVID 19 grant but to my dismay nobody from Bogoro have ever told me if he or she got anything. Please government should do something about it". Earlier, the National Orientation Agency Mr John Datut and Mrs Talatu Hashimu said they were in his palace in continuation of the sensitisation campaign on COVID 19 which has since commence in all the 20 LGAs.
They explained that there is urgent need for everyone to get vaccinated in the interest of public health because according to them the COVID vaccine is now available and people can access it at the nearest health facilities as contained in a statement by Gomna James, Information officer Bogoro LGA.
