A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Comrade Sabo Mohammed has expressed confidence that the party will easily defeat the incumbent PDP Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Sabo Mohammed who spoke to a selected group of journalists in Bauchi declared that, “The issue of incumbency will not play any significant role in the gubernatorial election in Bauchi state because the present administration has failed the people”.
Going down memory lane, he said that, “if you remember, former Governor Isa Yuguda defeated the candidate of the then outgoing Governor, Ahmed Adamu Muazu. Also, in 2015, the APC defeated the candidate of the PDP with the then Governor Isa Yuguda backing the candidate”.
He further said that, “in 2019, Sen Bala Mohammed defeated the then incumbent Governor Mohammed Abdullahi. You can see that incumbency does not win elections in Bauchi state. Going by the precedence, APC will win the gubernatorial election in 2023”.
On the spate of cross carpeting after the primary elections of the party he described it as uncalled for opining that there is no way someone will just join a political party and expect to win elections immediately.
He particularly said that, “there is no way a gubernatorial aspirant will dump the APC and just expect to win elections in a different political party within a short period. It is better to be patient and wait for another time, join hands with the candidate in order to be part of the winning team”.
Sabo Mohammed declared that, “don’t let us deceive ourselves, in bauchi state, the contest is between the gubernatorial candidates of the PDP and the APC. From what is on the ground, the APC will reclaim the seat”.
He reminded all those who decamped that they should remember that they had in the past defeated others to win their elections urging them to understand that in any game there must be a winner and a loser.
He then appealed to them to reconsider their stand and return to the APC where they have contributed immensely to its formation and sustainance because according to him, “You don’t build a house and use your hand to pull it down”.
