Hon. Gadafi Asemanya Jnr.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer, 24hours Road Accident Victims Support Initiative, (TRAVSI), Hon. Gadafi Asemanya wants the Benue state House of Assembly to enact a law that would compel motorcyclists to use helmet to minimize death during accidents.
Mr Asemanya who stated this while speaking with Harvest FM correspondent in Makurdi, expressed concern at the incessant accidents involving motorcycles within the township leading to death of some operators and passengers due to head injury.
He stated that the compulsory use of helmet by both the operators and passengers would protect their heads in an event of accident.
Mr Asemanya also expressed worry over the influx of commercial motorcycle operators into Makurdi township some of who mostly depend on the passengers to lead them to their destinations .
While calling on the Federal Road Safety Commission to restrict motorcycles from plying some major highways within the township, Mr Asemanya enjoined them to step up monitoring to ensure compliance to the use of their side mirrors and other road traffic rules.
