Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) on Saturday elected new set of leaders who will direct its affairs for the next three years with a call on Christian leaders to see it as a call to service.

The election was held at the All Saints Methodist Church, Rafin Zurfi as conducted by the North-East Zonal Secretary of CCN, Rev Jochania Gilbert Shagari in line with the constitution and guidelines of the Council.

He charged the newly elected officials to ensure that the mandate given to them was used to the glory of God reminding them that as stewards, one day, they will give full account of their actions before God.

The Zonal Secretary further challenged them to be accountable to the members of the Council by carrying them along in decision making because that is the only way the body of Christ can move on in fulfilling the mandate of God which is evangelism.

In his farewell remarks, the immediate former Chairman of the Council, Ven Kenneth Okonkwo commended members for the support given to his leadership when it lasted urging them to do same for the new leadership.

Though he said that it was not all smooth, his leadership was able to record a few landmark achievements which he advised the new leadership will build upon in order to move the Council forward.

In his post election remarks, the new Chairman, Rev Sunday Olobo said that his 3 point agenda is evangelism, mission and welfare in line with the Biblical command.

Rev Sunday Olobo while thanking the members for the mandate, assured that the new leadership will not let them down as they will be duly carried along in the scheme of things in the Council.

Others elected officials are Rev Collins David Agbong, Vice Chairman; Deacon Ishola Michael Adeyemi, Secretary; Engineer Nicodemus Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary; Rev Canon Timothy Yongshin, Treasurer; Very Rev TU Adole, Financial Secretary and Elder Edward Udosen, PRO.
