In an emergency meeting by National Executive Council of the Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) Saturday, the Union impeached its National Coordinator, Comrade John Isaac for what they described as the perpetual breach of their constitution.
In a press statement signed by the National Secretary, Augustine Baye, said the decision was to forestall sanity and avert any act that can threaten the reputation, unity and progress of the union.
The press statement said the Coordinator breaches Section 11.1, sub-section I, Section (11.2), sub-section (II), Section (27) Sub-Section (v), Section (11.2) sub-section (v) and Section 27 Subsection X of the constitution.
“The National Youth Wing Coordinator has failed to abide by this constitutional provision. Having spent more than two years of his tenure as the Coordinator, an AGM has not been called.
“The National Youth Wing Coordinator has failed to abide by this constitutional provision. Having spent over 2years in office with only one year and some months left to finish his constitutional mandate, he has not called for a single NEC meeting.” Said the statement
In another event, the coordinator organized a Dinner and Award Night dated December, 18th 2021 to honour certain individuals.
“At that same night, there was a Fund Rising for a purchase of Union Bus. Pledges of not less than 4million naira were made and reliable findings have shown that pledges were redeemed. Unfortunately, the Bus was neither purchased nor the redeemed pledges accounted to the CEC, NEC or the AGC.
“History is about repeating itself as another Youth Summit and Fund Rising of N100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira) for the so-called Southern Kaduna Empowerment Fund, scheduled for September, 10th 2022 at Kafanchan Campus of the Kaduna State University. The CEC and the NEC members only saw this on Social Media. Just like the previous events, the organization of this Fund Rising is championed by the National Youth Wing Coordinator and the PRO only. This has to a greater extent given room for suspicion of higher magnitude among the youths and thereby poses threat to the unity and integrity of the union.” He added
Based on the above listed allegations, the National Chairman, Chawai Development Association, Youth Wing, Comrade Danjuma Ishaya moved for the impeachment of the National Youth Wing Coordinator, seconded by Comrade Ajeh Bulus, the National Secretary Moro’a Youth Wing and the impeachment was endorsed by over 40 NEC Members in attendance.
The Deputy Coordinator assumed the leadership of the Union in acting capacity pending on when an election shall be conducted as prescribes by the SOKAPU’s constitution.
