Taraba SDP governorship candidate, Hon. Baido condemns Jalingo explosion

The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Taraba State, Hon. Danladi Baido has condemned Sunday’s explosion that rocked Jalingo, the state capital.
The incident occurred very close to the first roundabout leading to the roundabout to the Taraba State University.
The blast, around 9:35pm, at a relaxation spot, caused some damages to shops and residences in the area.
Hon. Baido, in a statement by his media aide, Anthony Maliki on Monday, stated that unfortunately insecurity is becoming a recurring decimal in the state.


Gunmen recently attacked Garin Kuka and Gidado in Gunduma District of Mutum-Biyu Chiefdom in Gassol Local Government Area gruesomely killing of 16 villagers and injuring of many amongst others.
According to him, a once peaceful state, Taraba has now degenerated into an environment where security challenges is fast rearing its head.
He condoles with the family of those injured as a result of the explosion including a four-year-old baby who was in a shop sleeping when the effect of the blast caused the wall to collapse on her. Though she survived.
Hon. Baido said it is unfortunate that in the past few weeks, kidnap and attacks on communities has been a great cause for concern and the state government has not taken any serious measure to checkmate it.
He, however urged the security architecture in the state to be proactive and live up to their mandate of protection of lives and property of the people.
The SDP candidate said this has become imperative now that the 2023 electioneering is at hand and bad elements would take advantage of the security lapse to attack law-abiding people.
