Adamawa Police Command arrest 44 suspected criminals for various offences

Barely less than six months to the general election, Adamawa state Police Command has adopted some new strategies and techniques which led to the arrest of 44 suspected criminals for various offences.

Some of the crimes which include kidnapping activities, culpable homicide, rape, causing gravius hurt, house breaking, theft and other violent crimes in some parts of the state.

Disclosing this while parading some suspects in Yola, the command commissioner of police CP Sikira Akande says that the command score card in the recent there was tremendous achievements made during the period under review.

Akande said this is as a result of their commitment and collaboration with hunters inhancing proactive strategies adopted to curb criminal activities in preparation to 2022 general election.

He noted that in preparatory to 2023 general election, the command designed a crime fighting strategies to clear pathways for smooth election process and to ensure public safety, public order and smooth electoral process in the countdown to the elections.

The CP said the command has charged all officers to boost the security of the public space towards guaranteeing a crime free enabling environment for political campaigns and crime free crack squard, special rapid respond squard, criminal investigation department, and divisional police headquarters carried out a tactical and intelligence driven dusk to down raids of criminal hideout and disconnect the crime network connecting to the kidnapping activities and other violent crimes.

CP Akande also stated that, “these suspects were apprehended in connection to kidnapping activities, culpable homicide, rape, causing grievous hurt, house breaking, theft and other violent crimes in some part of the state”.

According to him, “exhibits recovered alongside the suspects include, 5 AK 47 rifle, 31 rounds ammunitions, bundles of charms, 4 local single barrel gun, a motorcycle, 38 jerricans of dizzy engine oil, 28 handsets accessories, 2- 60” electronic television and host others.

The command therefore, expressed some of the challenges and called on the public especially people on charcoal business at Bagale mountain to support the security to please suspend the business for two weeks within which after the new tactics of the operation they can then continue their usual businesses.

Akande however, appreciate the state government and the good people of Adamawa state for their support they have been rendering to the command and therefore assure that all the suspects will be diligently prosecute on completion of investigation.

He said with latest tactics, the command will not relent in the man hunt of those suspects at large until they are apprehended and are brought to book.

Our correspondent reports that, the public should mindful of all they meet on streets as one of the suspects interviewed is a shoe shinner revealed that “at day time shoe shinner business but at night their business change because their shinning box they carry locally made pistols for operations in the night.
