This was contained in statement emailed to Apex News Exclusive by Nigel Duncan, WMA Public Relations Consultant.

The programme of the meeting will be:
Wednesday 5 October: Council and Committees
Thursday 6 October:    75th Anniversary Celebration of the German Medical Association
Scientific Session (‘Medical Ethics in a Globalized World’)
Friday 7 October am:    Assembly Ceremonial Session
Saturday 8 October:    General Assembly
According to the statement, journalists are invited to attend the Scientific Session, the Assembly Ceremonial Session and the General Assembly.

The keynote speakers at the Scientific Session will be Prof. Tom L. Beauchamp, Professor of Philosophy, Georgetown University, USA and Prof. James F. Childress, Professor Emeritus of Ethics and Religious Studies, University of Virginia, USA.

At the Ceremonial Session on Friday morning, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, former President of the Nigerian Medical Association, will be installed as WMA President for 2022-2023.

Mr Enabulele, 50 years, who currently serves as the president of the Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA) is the first to be so elected from the West African subregion.

He takes over from Heidi Stensmyren of Sweden as the president-elect, as the latter takes over from the association’s incumbent president, David Barbe, of the United States as the WMA President for the 2021-2022 executive year.

In the WMA, a new president first emerges as president-elect and remains in that capacity for one year before taking over as full-fledged president.

The keynote speaker at the General Assembly on Saturday will be Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, newly installed WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence.
Issues on the Assembly agenda on Saturday are likely to be headed by proposed revisions to the International Code of Medical Ethics, which have been drawn up following months of discussion. Other topics on the agenda include healthcare discrimination against the elderly, racism in medicine, and the growth of telehealth and digital healthcare activities.
