The Taraba state government has received with rude shock report of the attack on one of its indigenes, Tiyangrimam Blessing Mathias, an 18-year old orphan from Takum Local Government Area and student of Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa state, by a lecturer in the same University, Dr. Ayakhai E. F. along with his family members.
The lecturer and three other family members were said to have kidnapped, beaten and stripped their victim following a misunderstanding between her and one of his daughters over a social relationship.

The Taraba State Government position was contained in a statement whatsapp to Apex News Exclusive by S. Osborne Adi Jnr, Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media.

The State Government, particularly Governor Darius Dickson, condemned in its entirety the criminal and uncivilized action of Dr. Ayakhai E. F. and his band of lawless relations.

He said, it goes without saying that whatever the offence of Blessing T. Mathias is, there are lawful and constitutional means to seek redress but to resort to self-help through mob-like action is not only objectionable, but despicable, to say the least.
While the Governor commends the Nasarawa State Police Command for its quick response by promptly arresting the culprits, he also calls for their prompt prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others, who may contemplate such actions either now or in the near future.
The State Government therefore, wish to invite the attention of the management of the Federal University, Lafia, to keep close watch on the activities of both its students and staff alike in order to maintain law and order within its community.
The Government further wish to assure all parents, especially, students from the state, who are schooling both within and outside the state of its continued commitment to their welfare and security and will always act accordingly to safeguard their interests.
According to the statement, it is within this context, therefore, that His Excellency has directed that the treatment of Miss Tiyangrimam Blessing Mathias for the injuries and trauma arising from the needless attack will be borne by the State Government and will ensure that justice was not only done but seen to be done in this matter.
