Christianity, Islam must not be used in leadership recruitment – Adamawa Governor, Fintiri

Christianity and Islam should not be a criteria in the formation and leadership recruitment in Nigeria.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State stated this when he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to build a society that preaches love and harmorny that can be done through support for religious institutions in the state.

Fintiri declared this open in a three day ‘Maiden Pastors and Church Leaders Aummit’ organised by the state branch of the Christian Association of Nigrie (CAN), held at the St Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Yola.

He described that the leadership summit as a laudable effort that should be encouraged for a good society placed on the right trajectory of growth and development with the leadership that is reflective of the expectations of it’s citizens.

The Governor reasurred that all he will continue to work with the Christendom toward making Adamawa a better place, stressed that a commitment to ensure justice and fairness is the central key of his administration.

Governor Fintiri commended the uncommon leadership style of Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza which has helped not only the church and the entire body of Christ that supported the state on many occasions in uniting nauhgty issues.

The Governor the church for preaching the message of harmony and peaceful coexistence in the state and the country general country, that the gesture should be encouraged and sustained, he stressed.

In a keynote address, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President Rev. Daniel Okoh said the summit being the first of it’s kind in Adamawa and the country, has drown pastors and church leaders from across the state.

Rev Okoh further said, aim of the summit is to build the capacity and intellectual development between the clagies and the congregations in the administration of God’s Ministry.

Speaking also, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah reminded the congregation that God created Christian and Muslims alike and for that reason the two religions to grow together in one accord and tolerate each other and stop fighting for their Creator.

Bishop Kukah commended Governor Fintiri for his religious tolerance which he noted is extraordinary and charged other politicians to emulate him for the common good of the nation.

In his earlier remark, the state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Most Rev. Dr Stephen Dami Mamza saidbthe summit is in fuifulment of promise made so as to build capacity of pastors and church leaders.

Mamza commended Governor Fintiri for giving the Christian community a sense of belonging that it never experienced in the past and congratulated him for his well deserved award by the federal government.
