The leadership of Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, (IPAC), Yobe State Chapter, has called on the general public to disregard such reckless and irresponsible public pronouncements on behalf of the Council, to suggest that a Transition Council be constituted for the 17 local government council in the state.
IPAC chairman in the state, Comrade Bala Mohammed at an emergency meeting of the administrative council of the organisation, said “We the members of Yobe IPAC chapter hereby disassociate ourselves from the purported press conference, we don’t know anything about it”.
According to him, “It has come to our notice that one Umar Mohammed Kukuri, a vice chairman of Nangere local government and a former chairman of interparty advisory council, Yobe state organized a press conference seeking the extension of the tenure of local government chairmen which expires on the 3rd of November, 2022.”
He said the Vice Chairman of Nangere didn’t have their mandate to discuss or issue any statement regarding local government chairmen or elections on behalf of IPAC. He is an APC member by virtual of been the vice chairman of Nangere.
Bala noted that, IPAC as the name implies is a advisory council whose members are drawn from different political parties which makes sure the tenets of democracy is upheld.
He said it is only the governor that can appoint some administrators or seek the extension of their tenure through the state house of assembly not thru dubious means as being advocated by this faceless individual parading himself as an official of IPAC.
“I will like to use this appotunity to inform you that, We denounce this press conference and the statement didn’t emanated from IPAC,” Bala explained.
He said that, “We are stakeholders in this government and we are solidly behind the government and all the legal avenues that is being employed to making sure that law and order is followed,” he emphasized.
The IPAC chairman warned against such frivolous statement by Hon. Umar and says that the era when one individual or a few persons will concoct statements in the name of all political parties is over.
Our state correspondent report that, the tenure of the chairmen expires 3, November as stipulated by the state electoral commission.
