Nasarawa Governor, Engineer Sule distributes additional 25 motorcycles to security agencies

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has distributed additional 25 brand new motorcycles to security agencies and community volunteer guards, in order to facilitate easy access to criminal hideouts in areas with difficult terrains.

Engineer Sule distributed the motorcycles at a brief ceremony at the Government House, on Wednesday.

He said the gesture is meant to provide necessary tools to the security agencies operating in the state, towards protecting the lives of the citizens of the state.

According to the Governor, it has become necessary to support the security agencies in the state with additional motorcycles, following discoveries, especially during recent floods that affected Rukubi, in Doma Local Government Area, in order for them to be able to access areas with difficult terrains.

“Recently, if you remember, we had a situation about flood in Rukubi. I had to go to Olam to find out exactly what was going on. But during the trip, we came to realize that there are lots of difficult terrains that our security agencies are facing problems,” he stated.

While recalling the commitment made by the Olam rice company towards supporting the military with 10 motorcycles and one vehicle, Engineer Sule added that, on its part, the state government decided to distribute 25 additional motorcycles.

“What we are doing is just to make sure that all the various security agencies are being provided with the required tools. In addition to the vehicles are giving, we are also giving them these motorcycles. Because we want to make sure that the people of Nasarawa State are always safe and people of Nasarawa State will continue to be protected,” he said.

Receiving the motorcycles, the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Muhammed Baba, thanked the Governor for the goodwill on behalf of the IGP and other service chiefs.

CP Maiyaki assured the Governor of their total commitment to the service of the country and Nasarawa State.

Earlier, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, said the Engineer Sule administration has already distributed 94 motorcycles to security agencies in the state.

He explained that, the additional 25 motorcycles were purchased owing to the demand and nature of the roads, especially in rural areas, following requests to enable security agencies fish out bad elements in their hideouts.

The SGNS gave the breakdown of the distribution as follows, police 5, Operation Whirl Stroke 2, NSCDC 3, 177 Guards Battalion 5, NDLEA 2, community volunteer guards 3, hunters 3 and vehicle inspection officers 2.
