In an effort to find solutions to curb desert encroachment in Adamawa State, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) says plans have been completed to find solutions by rewarding citizens that would plant trees.

The governorship candidate of the party in the state, Dr Umar Ardo stated this in Yola the state capital.

He every citizen of voting age is required to plant and nurture not less than two trees within his or her vicinity.

According to him, if elected, every Saturday shall be declared monthly for this purpose unless those confirmed sick and over 70 years may be excused by choice.

Dr Ardo stated that children below voting age who plant and nurture two trees or more will be rewarded with a handsome prize.

Dr Ardo said, “the administration run by him plans to conquer hunger, illiteracy and ignorance, unemployment, infrastructural and accountability in public service and ending the stealing of public funds.

Ardo, however, promised not to steal a single kobo from the state treasury and will not allow anybody else to do so.

In his speech, a presidential candidate of SDP, Prince Adebayo Adewole gave assurance to the people of Adamawa state of his readiness to tackle insurgency to make life safe and better for Nigerian citizens.

He also promised that he will build dams that will check the menace of floods in the country to generate power supply for the nation and extending it neighbouring countries.
