Menstrual hygiene management stakeholders in Bauchi explore sustainance options to keep project afloat

Stakeholders of menstrual hygiene management project in Bauchi has explored different options towards sustenance of increased confidence in girl child in management of menstruation among other objectives.
Similarly our correspondent learnt that Kimberly-Clark Corporation (Kotex) has provided pads for no fewer than 6,102 students in twenty four public schools in Bauchi, Katagum and Ningi local government areas of the state.

Executive Chairman, Bauchi Primary Health Care Development Agency (BPHCDA) who doubles as the Chairman of the committee, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed made this known on Thursday at the end of the 5th Menstrual hygiene management Project Steering Committee Quatrely meeting in the state.

Represented by the Deputy Director Administration and Human Resources of the Agency Ibrahim Ahmed, the Chairman lauded the development adding that the stakeholders have gathered to address gray areas especially in fully meeting the core objectives of the project.

He directed the setting up of a committee to come up with an advocacy tool that will reach out to relevant ministries towards sustainance plan.

Earlier the project coordinator of Plan International in Bauchi, Afolabi Ahmed among other things announced that they had targeted thirty two schools for establishment of pad banks but were able to reach twenty four so far.

He said some of the objectives of the meeting is to review the action points and resolution of previous gathering for updates and activities, and make suggestions for sustainance in case donors do not extend the funding.

Various presentations at the gathering highlighted other success stories and challenges recorded in meeting the overall objectives of the project before the time line of April 2023 elapses.

The meeting culminated with an eight point resolutions anchored on possible options that can keep the programmes aflot given its recorded gains.
