ACCI President, Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar speaks at the 32nd AGM

The President, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar says 2022 is ending on a high note for the organization achieving some key landmarks.
Among these are the development of its 10 hectares of land with activities already commenced, progress for the recovery of Pegi market land, signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) and University of Abuja.
Dr. Abubakar spoke Thursday in Abuja at 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the chamber.
On the 10 hectares of land, he said through a rigorous process, the chamber and City Scape Property Limited have signed an agreement on the matter.

According to him, the land is expected to be developed into an ultra-modern shopping complex and also a hotel facility.
On the Pegi market land, Dr. Abubakar noted that the ACCI is working with Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) at ensuring statutory approvals and documentation are obtained.
On the MoU with RIFAN, the president pointed out the partnership led to the co-host of the launch of the rice pyramids by President Muhammadu Buhari at the ACCI complex.
Other activities of the partnership, he said, included a business delegation to Egypt.
Besides, Dr. Abubakar said, all ACCI staff were exposed to various capacity building opportunities to ensure service delivery.
Among these were Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) sponsoring two ICT staff for advance training in Japan as well as training of two senior administrative staff as master trainers.
On prospects for 2023, the president pointed out that ACCI is in the process of planning the first African Space conference with the National Space Research and Development Agency.
He also said ACCI hope to construct a hotel at the mid front of the chamber hopeful of patronage by airlines and others because of its proximity to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Dr. Abubakar stressed the chamber plans to organize more sector specific events that will provide value to members and the business community.
Highlights of the AGM was the induction and issuance certificates to new members, presentations by the Bank of Industry (BoI) and the Tax Appeal Tribunal and appointment and remuneration of Auditor’s report.
