Yuletide: Gombe Police Commissioner reaffirms adequate crime prevention

Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim has reiterated the commitment of the Command to collaborate with other security agencies and stakeholders to put in place sufficient crime preventive measures before, during and after the Christmas and New Year Festivities.
He stressed that the ban on the sale, purchase and use of fireworks (Commonly called “Knockouts” or “Bangers”) and other explosives is still in force in the State.
He warned that anyone caught selling or lighting up fireworks and explosives of any kind, would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
The Commissioner of Police also ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical/Operational Units and other strategic Commanders of the Command, to deploy all the Intelligence and operational assets at their disposal to crime prevention.
They are to also ensure that criminal flashpoints, highways, streets and other places of public interest within their Area of Responsibilities (AORs), are effectively patrolled and Policed, to ensure a hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.
The CP urged them to ensure that Police operatives under their watch discharged their duties in accordance with extant laws and rules of engagement of the Nigeria Police Force.
He directed that especially as it concerns being professional, resolute, shunning acts of corruption and extortion, as well as respecting the fundamental human rights of citizens.
The CP called on community leaders, parents and guardians to be accountable for their subjects, children, wards and report any suspected act in their environs.
Oqua Etim further urge motorists to abide by traffic regulations and avoid over speeding/reckless driving which may endanger their lives and that of other commuters.
He added that residents of the State should remain supportive by being vigilant, law-abiding and promptly report criminals and their activities at the nearest Police Station, or via Command Complaint lines 08150567771 or via *NPF Rescue-me Application*.
He then wished all the people of Gombe State a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance as contained in a statement by ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, Command PPRO.
