The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has visited victims of the tragic accident involving supporters of the party returning to Mangu from the campaign flag-off of the Central Zone of Plateau State, held in Pankshin.

Atiku in company of the PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, and other eminent personalities were led to the accident and emergency unit of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), by the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, where they met the victims to sympathize with them, and pray for their recovery.

Earlier, Atiku Abubakar and his team were at the residence of the former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah David Jang, to commiserate with him over the tragic incident that has so far claimed 13 lives.

The presidential hopeful also visited the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, His Royal Highness Daa John Putmang Hirse including the National President, Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Sir Joseph Gwankat, and some members of the Mwaghavul traditional council.

He expressed his condolences to the Mwaghavul nation and prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the accident.

The Mishkaham Mwaghavul accepted Atiku Abubakar’s condolences on behalf of the people of Mangu LGA.

The presidential candidate donated the sum of N30million to the accident victims, while the national chairman of the PDP, donated N10million on behalf of the party.

13 persons died in the accident, and most have been buried by their respective families Monday. Numerous survivors on admission have been discharged remaining 5 at Nisi Dominus Hospital, and 2 at Nanret Bethel Medical Center, all in Mangu. Of the 28 admitted at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), 3 have been discharged, while the remaining 25 are all in stable condition.
