The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam has advocated the positive use of religion for the development of Nigeria.
He made the remark when the newly elected executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) branch paid him a courtesy visit at the NCPC head office in Abuja.
“Religion can build a nation. Religion can be used to build a nation,” he explained.
According to him, religion should be used positively and not in a negative manner.
Rev. Pam stressed that many people have used religion to divide the people of Nigeria and implored the FCT CAN to be steadfast to change that negative notion.
The NCPC helmsman pointed out that when there are issues concerning the country, religious leaders must tell those in authority the truth.
Likewise, he opined, religious leaders must not wait until something is wrong before they tell those in authority but should be proactive.
Rev. Pam also noted that CAN has been privileged to stand and speak for those who do have a voice and should continue to do so.
He told the FCT CAN that the NCPC is ready to work and synergize with them.
Earlier in his remarks, the newly elected FCT CAN chairman, Rev. Timothy Amakom said Rev. Pam has remained a strong pillar and motivator to many Christians all over the country which underscored the tremendous and positive changes witnessing in the affairs of the NCPC and Christendom as chairman of CAN 19 Northern states and FCT.
He acknowledged Rev. Pam as a quintessential leader, reconciliatory par excellence, teacher, a consummate administrator, an advocate for peace, a detribalized Nigerian and leader in the vineyard of God.
Rev. Amakom stressed that Rev. Pam’s appointment to the NCPC that has direct link to the Presidency is not surprising especially for those who know his antecedents in the things of God.
The FCT CAN chairman also used the occasion to formally invited Rev. Pam to their official inauguration on Sunday January 29, 2023 at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
