I am not a sooth seer. No 2, you, Natasha, are in the age bracket with my first child. No 3 l know your late dad, Dr Momoh Akpoti, a brilliant medical doctor – may God bless him in the celestial realm. He was a humane, unassuming and philanthropic man. Naturally, l should support Natasha but l am different. I don’t allow sentiment to take control of me. Ab initio, Natasha was offered a “window” to apologise for her disdainful conduct on the floor of Senate. If she had grabbed that opportunity and soberly tendered apology, first to the Senate President, and jokingly add…SP sir, l shall return home to announced to your friend, my spouse that we have settled. And to all my distinguished Colleagues, l regret my actions. I extend once again my hand of cooperation and collaboration. From the deep of my heart, l am genuinely sorry. I beg all to consider the incident in the Senate as a moment of “fancy passing”. The Ebira people by our very home training, are friendly, accommodating, tolerant and respectful people. We are not known to be arrogant.
I thank you Mr SP, all Principal officers and my distinguished Colleagues.
If she had done this, the world would have stood still for distinguished Senator Natasha, the proud daughter of Ebiraland. Therefore all the globetrotting, going to the Court and seeking advice from the needless quarters would not have been necessary. The huge financial resources she has deplored on this matter would not have been necessary.
This is not for Natasha alone but for all occupying positions of responsibilities. An individual is not bigger than an institution. It is the reverse.
Finally, Mr SP, l make a passionate appeal to you and your principal officers and every distinguished Senator, to reconsider your decision premise. Justice Binta Nyako made the point – the SP can allocate and reallocate seats, he can rule any Senator out of order for not addressing the Senate from his/her sitting position. SP, you have not contravened the Senate Order. I responsibly appeal to you sir, listen to the voice of wisdom in the background and RECALL your friend’s spouse and to honour her late dad, the Dr Momoh Akpoti, who was known for his philanthropic work until his transition. Sir, “do not throw away the baby with the bath water”. In all of these, Natasha may have picked some life lessons. Apologies to all she may have offended one way or the other.
To my enebeni, Dr Momoh Akpoti, in the celestial realm. May your spirit continue to guard your daughter, Natasha. Central Senatorial district have suffered enough, l beg of you SP, how do you compassionate her constituency, Arihini.
