A Catholic priest of the Aba Diocese, Rev. Fr. James Anyaegbu, has been selected among fifty leading Catholic influencers worldwide invited to participate in a special visit to the Holy Land.

Speaking on the development, Fr. Anyaegbu revealed that the Dicastery for Communication at the Vatican contacted him to inform him of his selection. He explained that from the initial list of fifty Catholic influencers, only fifteen priests were chosen to take part in the pilgrimage.

According to him, the Dicastery sought his consent after confirming that his name was among the selected fifteen priests.

The visit, he said, is designed as a digital missionary retreat aimed at strengthening evangelization through modern communication platforms. The pilgrimage was originally scheduled for February 16, 2026, but has been postponed due to security concerns around Tel Aviv and uncertainties in airline operations. A new date has been fixed for after Easter, although the exact timing is yet to be announced.

Fr. Anyaegbu, who is the Director of the Faith-Chat Platform, currently serves in the Diocese of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. He disclosed that Faith-Chat is a registered charitable organization operating in both Scotland and Nigeria, with outreach across several African countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Ghana, Cameroon, and Nigeria, as well as in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and other parts of Europe.

He explained that the platform combines online prayer sessions with physical charity works and retreats. Annual retreats are held regularly in Nigeria and the United States, alongside other physical gatherings in the United Kingdom.

Advising fellow priests, Fr. Anyaegbu stressed the importance of discipline, intentionality, and resourcefulness in ministry. He noted that young people today seek credible spiritual leaders who can address their questions and guide them authentically to Christ. He also encouraged young people to put their trust in God, reminding them that while humans may labor, it is God who gives growth.

The announcement of his selection sparked excitement during the opening-year prayer meeting of the Faithspiration Initiative held at Iba Pope Awada Parish, Onitsha, where members expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity and praised Fr. Anyaegbu’s dedication to spreading the Gospel through social media.

Speaking at the event, the Founder of Faithspiration Initiative, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, described Fr. Anyaegbu as a dynamic and committed missionary priest. He remarked that the recognition was well deserved, praising his focus, determination, and effective use of his talents in advancing evangelization, particularly through digital platforms.
