In a release made available to our correspondent in Onitsha the Chairman, Hon. Clem Aguiyi describe the conduct of Mrs. Udugbo as vicious and unacceptable conduct capable of occassioning grevious harm to the elderly woman.
Mr. Aguiyi said having a child at old age ought to be a benefit to the elderly but in this case it is a curse.
The statement issued read as follows: The attention of the Council has been drawn to a viral video on the internet where a lady identified as Mrs. Nkiruka Udugbo of Umudunu Village, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area was beating, kicking and molesting her elderly mother for some undisclosed reasons.
The incident was even more heart broken realizing the attacker is her own biological daughter.
Old people are weak and vulnetable and should be protected and nursed and not subjected to humiliation, evil, wickedness, verbal and physical abuse.
We condemn the actions of the attacker and will take appropriate action.
The Council has ordered for the immidiate arrest of Mrs. Nkiruka Udugbo by the Police, she will be subjected to psychological evaluation and then brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.
The actions of Mrs Udugbo will not go unpunished the Chairman said while also issuing stern warnings to all those that may be in the habit of assaulting vulnerable children and elderly people in Njikoka to desist as their time is up because the law will not spare them.
