Archbishop Kaigama emerges from the Church after performing the Sacrament of Confirmation
By Anthony Maliki
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama has called on the faithful to do away with ethnic differences and forge ahead as one.
He said though the Church is a convergence of people from different ethnic groups and background, all are one in Christ and “that is the beauty of the Catholic Church”.
The archbishop spoke Thursday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mbuko, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after administering the Sacrament of Confirmation on 173 candidates.

He said the work of the Church is not for him alone as priests will come and urged parishioners to do more without looking back.
According to him, the faithful must give more to the Church pointing out that when one gives the little resources, God will never forget such gesture.
Archbishop Kaigama also encouraged parishioners to be strong in faith and not allow minor problems to pull them down and give up hope. “A good Christian has faith in the face of adversity,” he said.
The cleric said one of the reasons of creating 51 pastoral centres since his consecration as Archbishop of Abuja two years ago is to develop a new era in the archdiocese.
He explained that the older parishes have grown in the last 40 years of the Abuja archdiocese and now it is an opportunity to develop new ones.
The archbishop said St. Gabriel Pastoral centre, Mbuko is dear to his heart because it represents a new era in the development of the diocese and have come to encourage and pray for it.
