Abuja Chamber 31st AGM: ACCI President, Abubakar rolls out landmark achievements

The 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (ACCI), took place Thursday with the President, Dr. Al Mujtaba Abubakar rolling out land mark achievements in the last one year.
He said a French national is investing N200million in the ACCI Cooperative and manage the funds.
The President’s speech was titled “Year of consolidation and strengthening structure”.
He said if the Cooperative investment is successful, the Chamber would upgrade it to a Micro-Finance bank.
On international relations, the President noted that, the Chamber continues to expand her frontiers in building relationships with embassies with a view to establishing linkages between members of the Chamber and their counterparts in other countries.

Dr. Abubakar pointed out that through the embassies, contacts were made to business organizations and as a result, several business networking meetings were held.
According to him, the Chamber is working with a developer to execute the development of the 10 hectares of land with the Site Development Plan (SDP) designed and has reached advanced state of approval at FCDA.
He said following the design of the SDP, there is now additional space for lease open to members who might be interested in purchasing the land.
On capacity building in 2021, the executive directors of all the centres, management and non-management staff were trained which is consistent with the goal to develop, retain and attract skilled human capital, he said.
Dr. Abubakar pointed out that ACCI have been able to upgrade Policy Advocacy Centre (PAC), Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Center and Dispute Resolution Centre (DRC) to national centers.
He said ACCI have collaborated with other Chambers of Commerce and Industry both locally and internationally which has led to exchange of ideas, information and knowledge and consequently improve the activities of the Chamber.
Besides, he noted ACCI has worked closely with the Federation of West African Chamber of Commerce at the regional level to participate in the key regional meetings organized by the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission of Africa.
The President also explained that ACCI has introduced a new membership category called the Young CEOs category to encourage participation of young’s persons within the city of Abuja in the activities of Chambers of commerce.
The External Auditor’s report by Awulu Dickson & Co. was presented, adopted by the AGM and approval given to undertake that of next year.
Highlights of the AGM was the induction of new members into the Chamber anchored by ACCI Director-General, Victoria Akai, vote of O.C. Momoh as Vice President, ICT of ACCI and allocation of an office of NACCIMA.
