The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) recognizes the diligent efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration and the labour leaders in establishing a new minimum wage of ₦70,000, with an agreement to review it every three years instead of every five years.
This agreement marks progress on the path to fairer wages and improved living standards for employees.
This was contained in a statement by Amina Abdullahi Samuel, Assistant Media Officer, ACCI on Friday.
In the statement, Chief Emeka Obegolu SAN, PhD, President of ACCI, appreciates the constructive dialogue and mutual understanding demonstrated by all parties involved in the negotiation.
“The collaborative spirit shown throughout this process is a testament to our leadership’s commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian workforce,” Chief Obegolu stated.
It noted that ACCI remains committed to supporting policies and initiatives that promote sustainable economic growth and enhance the business environment in Nigeria.
“We believe that while the new minimum wage may not completely solve the immediate economic challenges faced by workers, it is a crucial step in the right direction,” it said.
As the leading voice for the business community in Abuja, the Chamber reaffirms its dedication to working closely with the government, labour unions, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and future improvements of this policy.
Chief Obegolu said ACCI commended the President and the labour leaders for their efforts and dedication to the betterment of the nation pointing out that “Together, we will continue to strive towards a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.”
