As 2027 election draws nearer, Adamawa APC Unity Forum is calling for free and fair primaries while choosing the party’s governorship candidate and other flag bearers in the state.
The Forum frowned at automatic ticket for any candidate or imposition of candidate on the party which they said not mean well for the party in the state.
According to it, that all candidates who want to fly the party’s flag be given a level playing ground to test their popularity in a free and fair contest.
At a press conference in Yola by the Director General of the forum, Hon. Abubakar Hamman Gerei, the forum’s coordinators and members across the 21 local governments, said this has become necessary for peace, unity and victory for 2027.
The forum thumbs up fro President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership which continued to attract opposition Governors and leaders into the party as well as the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his unwavering commitments towards nipping in the bud country’s security challenges.
He accordingly said, the forum in partnership with the leadership of the party in the state is committed to ensure the conduct of free, fair and credible primaries and ensure that all party members have an equal opportunity to participate in the process.
Speaking also, Hon. Vrati Nzonzo, reiterated the commitments of the forum to ensure unity of purpose and keep the party together in the state through equity, fairness and justice.
While urging those who are waiting in the comfort of their rooms to be imposed on the people as party candidates, he charge them to ignore such idea instead come out to sell themselves to the people. Recalling that imposition of candidates was responsible for the party’s failure in 2019, leading to the lost party to PDP in the state.
Nzonzo who was the party’s House of Representative candidate for Numan/Lamurde/Demsa Federal Constituency in 2023 election, urged party leaders to come back home and mobilise their supporters to participate in the ongoing party e- registration exercise to send a clear message to the opposition before the general election.
