Senator Abbo during the interview with Gotel Radio, Yola
The Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ishaku Abbo said an individual has high-jacked the party’s affairs to his political advantage and is supporting the Reformed Peoples Democratic Party (rPDP).
Apex News gathered that some party loyalists are not comfortable with the Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in some appointments and the “selection” of local government chairmanship candidates and councilors unto himself during the December 2019 council polls.
Party faithful noted the governor didn’t give them the opportunity to forward their candidates. Also, they complain they were not taken along in the recent appointment of administrators for the Development Area Councils.
However, Senator Abbo while calling on the leadership of the PDP to interfere with the party’s current feeble imbroglio positions in the state, vowed his loyalty to the faction of Dr Ardo, claiming that the movement is on the right track to improve democracy in the state.
While fielding questions on a local radio programme in Yola, Abbo stressed that the party belongs to its members as a whole and not to a person who used it to achieve the political position.
The crux of the party has resulted in having what Abbo said reformed the PDP under the supervision of Dr Ardo, distancing themselves from the led faction of the Barrister A.T. Shehu.
“The fact is that a political party like ours supposed to belong to everyone, especially loyal members as they all contributed in its making from a scratch,” he pointed out.
