Adamawa Executive Council approves N140b as 2023 budget

Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a total of N140 billion for the 2023 fiscal year during the council tenth meeting.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, said the budget proposal has N91 billion and N 49 billion for the recurrent and capital expenditure representing 65% and 35% respectively.
He described the budget as realistic, that government is serious and committed to making sacrifice despite stringent resources by assuring that expenditures are matched with revenues.
The SEC also approved virement of over N20 billion representing 3.1% of the initial budget of N163.6 billion for the year 2022.
Pella said that, after evaluating the entire performance of the 2022 budget it found that others having surplus.
In a new development, government has approved the construction of 3.6km Bole road extension in Yola south at a cost of N1.9 billion.
He accordingly said a variation of N1.3 billion has been approved for Manpaya road in Uba in Hong LGA to Triacta Nigeria Ltd rand the city International Dimensional Nigeria Ltd with a time frame of twelve Months.
The commissioner also terminated the contract for the construction of 39.5 kilometers Maiha Fulbere- Zhadinya -Mararaba Pella road awarded in 2007.
That the failure of the contracting firm AG Vision construction Ltd to executing the project within the construction conditions in the contract agreement.
In a further clarification, Pella said the contract was first reviewed in 2009, 2011and also 2017 with the contractor having collected N5.5 billion before the third variation.
