By Sam Tor

In his determination to ensure that workers who have served the state and retired enjoy a dignified and comfortable retirement, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has raised the monthly pensions and gratuity allocation from N50 million to N100 million to facilitate rapid payment of outstanding liabilities of gratuity and pension to the retirees.

This was contained in a press statement by Senior Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, Muhammad B. Tukur.

It will be recalled that on assumption of office, The ATM Governor inherited a backlog of pension and gratuity arrears of billions of naira despite the billions of naira as Budget Support and Bailouts (Paris Club Refund) received by the immediate past administration totaling over N30.5billion most of which was meant for such expenditure.

The latest move will indeed go a long way in settlement of the backlog of gratuity arrears owed retired civil servants in the state from 2012 to date.

During his campaign tours to the 21 Local Government, the ATM Governor had categorically expressed dismay on the plights of these able men and women who served our dear state with all sense of diligence, perseverance and fairness.
