Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has presented a proposed budget of N226.893 billion for the year 2024 fiscal year.
Fintiri said his administration will change the standard of living of the people to become a reality.
According to him, N112 billion representing 49.5% is earmarked for re-current services while the balance of N114 billion representing 51.7% will be for capital development.
The governor noted that, the 2024 budget is crafted to complete infrastructure projects which were earlier awarded, build new ones, invest largely on the educational sector, health sector and give more attention to agriculture and energy to youths and women empowerment.
He reiterated that this will no doubt address structural and social problems in the economy and attract the necessary enablers for progress, peace and investment.
He emphasized that the 2024 proposal has been carefully articulated to faster economic development of the state.
He therefore directed all the MDAs to quote the classification code and the balance of vote of change on their memo when requesting for release of funds to enable financial experts to properly classify and track releases as appropriate.
“Government will continue to look into measures and modalities on how to upset the backlog of gratuities and pension of retired civil servants within the next fiscal year and to ensure prompt payment of salaries and overhead cost”, he said.
The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Wesley Batthiya said budget presentation though a yearly ritual, is to be looked thoroughly scrutinized by members.
