Adamawa Governor, Fintiri presents Staff of Office to 17th Kwandi Nungurya

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Saturday officially presented a Staff of Office to the new First Class Chief of Lunguda Kingdom, Mr Kurhaye Dishon Dan Dansa II as the 17th Kwandi Nungurya of Guyuk local government area.

At the ceremony which held at the Dishon Dan Sanda Squire, Governor Umaru Fintiri described the occasion as unique and historic as it was designed to fulfill the wishes and aspirations of not only Lunguda Community but the entire inhabitants of the chiefdom.

The Governor stressed that power is given by God to whom He wishes and congratulated the king makers and the people of Lunguda for the show of maturity and understanding displayed during the selection of the new Kwandi Nungurya to fill the vacuum created by the demise of the sixteenth Kwandi Nungurya.

He commended the spirit of oneness and togetherness that guided the conduct of the exercise which proved that the admirable Lunguda culture is intact and will continue prevail and also confirmed that the new Chief commands a lot of respect and support from his subjects.

Governor Umaru Fintiri therefore called on the royal father to reciprocate the gesture of the people through providing exemplary leadership that places emphasis on the promotion of ethnic, social and religious harmony among the people at all times.

The Governor urged traditional rulers in the state as custodians of culture to play more dynamic and prominent role in mobilizing the people at the grassroots towards engaging in meaningful economic ventures and self help projects which will uplift the living standard of the people.

He implored people of Adamawa to avoid idleness which break anti social and criminal activities ranging from kidnapping, armed banditry, cattle rustling, famers-herders clashes and insurgency that engulfed north east region and cooperate with the royal fathers and government for peace in Adamawa.

He said the impact of the eleven point agenda of the present administration has already being felt by the people and government will maintain the momentum adding that his administration will continue to be guided by the wish and aspirations of the citizenry.

He congratulated the new Kwandi Nungurya and called on elites and people of Guyuk local government to rally round their new Chief by giving him constructive and unbiased advice on how to lead the people of the area to greater heights and development to thrive.

Responding, the kwandi Nungurya Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda, the second says the day marks an end to activities prescribed by custom and tradition for the ascension to the revered throne of the kingdom and called on all Lunguda sons and daughters to unite and build an egalitarian community as his doors will always be open for anything good.

The royal father applauded the Governor for doing what is legally right and in conformity with tradition but most importantly for fulfilling the will of the people and pledging to reawaken and sustain the ideals of the Lunguda race.

Highlight of the ceremony was cultural match pass and dances.

In an interview shortly after the event, Senator Binos Dauda Yero and House of Representatives Member for Shelleng and Guyuk Constituency Mr Gibeon Goroki expressed optimism that the reign will bring justice,fairness and togetherness in the entire lunguda community.
