Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has saluted Muslims in the state as they join other faithful across the world to commence the Ramadan fast.

The remarks was contained in a statement Friday by Humwashi Wonosikou, Press Secretary to the Governor.

He said the Holy Month of Ramadan is one of Islam’s five pillars and an opportunity for Muslims to purify the body, their minds, heart and spirit from fasting and praying to Almighty Allah.
While describing this year’s spiritual exercise as Ramadan at home, he regretted that it presented the challenge of COVID-19 as some practices during the period may not happen, but urged the faithful to remain in their homes keeping safe and ensuring social distancing and proper hygiene.
Governor Fintiri also admonishes Muslims “To see the period as a time to renew and strengthen their faith through rigorous fasting, devotional prayers, reflective meditation, reading the Quran and charitable deeds at this critical time.”
While wishing them a peaceful and blessed Ramadan, he said events of the past weeks have proven that prayer is a necessity in overcoming challenges of the times. “I believe we shall find peace, comfort and reassurance in our faith,” Fintiri said.
He said the people must not be broken as this health challenge will also pass. Ramadan Kareem.
